The grating spectrometer developed by us is equipped with an attachment with which transmission and photoluminescence measurements can be carried out easily. The spectroscopy attachment accommodates a standard cuvette measuring 46 mm x 12.5 mm x 12.5 mm. If the liquid contained in it (e.g. the dye of a highlighter) is excited from the side with UV light, the dye molecules emit photons with a lower energy and different colour. If you want to analyse which wavelengths are absorbed by the liquid, you can illuminate it with white light and measure which colours or wavelengths are not transmitted.
Everything you need for printing and a list of required parts as well as assembly instructions can be foundhere.
Have fun setting up and experimenting!
