Fraunhofer lines in the solar spectrum

Explore the "barcode of the sun"!

Just by observing the rainbow, we know that the light from our sun consists of a mixture of all visible colors. With the help of our USB grating spectrometer, you can look much closer and see that the otherwise bright solar spectrum contains many darker lines - like a barcode. Why we can learn from this what our sun and also our earth atmosphere consists of, you will learn in our video. We also provide instructions on how you can record and examine the spectrum yourself.

Have fun exploring our sun!
